All fruits. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned include: apples, apricots, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, cantaloupe, cherries, cranberries, figs, grapefruit, grapes, guava, honeydew melon, kiwi, lemons, limes, mangoes, nectarines, oranges, papayas, peaches, pears, pineapples, plums, prunes, raisins, raspberries, strawberries, tangelos, tangerines, watermelon…and enjoy Seneca APPLE CHIPS too!
All vegetables: fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned include: artichokes, asparagus, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chili peppers, collard greens, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, ginger root, kale, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, potatoes, radishes, rutabagas, scallions, spinach, sprouts, squashes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, yams, zucchini, Veggie Straws and Veggie Burgers (if you’re not allergic to soy, look for Morning Glory or BOCCA BURGERS in FROZEN FOOD section.) INGLES DELI has carry-out homemade veggie soup for $1.99 a pint.
All whole grains, (look for the word WHOLE GRAIN/WHEAT), brown rice, millet, quinoa, oats, barley, grits (plain), whole wheat pasta, whole wheat (or corn) tortillas, rice cakes and all-natural popcorn. (Pepperidge Farm 100 calorie WHOLE GRAIN DELI FLATS, a baked bread product is expectable during our fast.)
All nuts and seeds, including but not limited to sunflower seeds, cashews, peanuts, sesame. Also nut butters including peanut butter.
All legumes. These can be canned or dried. Legumes include but are not limited to dried beans, pinto beans, split peas, lentils, black eyed peas, kidney beans, black beans, cannellini beans, white beans.
All quality oils including but not limited to olive, canola, grape seed, peanut, and sesame.
Beverages: spring/distilled water or other pure waters & 100% juices. CAFFEEINE-FREE, non-carbonated, sugar-free beverages. Use non-dairy creamer in de-calf tea, coffee, herbal teas.
Other: tofu, soy, vinegar, seasonings, salt, herbs and spices. Sugar-free ketchup and other condiments like Honey, Stevia (packets in grocery is a natural sweetener from sunflower family) also, organic Blue Agave Syrup made from 100% blue agave plants, exclusively produced in Guadalajara, Mexico can be used by diabetics as a healthy, natural sweetener to replace sugar in cooking, beverages, and baking.
The Daniel Fast is a very healthy way to eat and is full of nutritious and healthy foods. **If you have special dietary needs, you should consult your health professional and modify the fast to meet your specific health needs.
